Can't configure Gigabit Lan on M61P-S3 Motherboard RRS feed

  • Question

  • I just setup a new WHS Server  and everything is great except I can't configure Gigabit ethernet on the motherboard Lan. There is not Gigabit option, only 100Mbs max, when I try to configure the Lan card through control Panel. Also I believe this is a Realtek integrated adapter but it's listed as a NVida network controller - Any help would be appreciated -

Gigabyte M61P-S3 MB with Integrated video and GIGABIT LAN (so they say)

    1GB Kingston Ram

    Antec Sonota Case

    Lite-On DVD Rom

    AMD Anthlon 64 CPU

1 Seagate 500GB SATA II drive

    1 Maxtor 250GB SATA drive

    1 Hitachi 400GB IDE drive

    Everything else is working great.

  • I purchased a new NIC that was 2003 compatible and still couldn't get 1Gbs.  But then I replaced the Lan cable and wouldn't you know it everything was as it should be. Check hardware first.
