VISTA Key - invalid?

Question
-
i had posted already but i did not include the diagnostic report.
first issue preloade software from HP (Office) key was required, thought it was a trial version but does not show up as trial (will have to reinstall from OE disk to get diagnostic report if required.
second issue, i installed home premium from the anytime update disk that came with the laptop. i used the key that was on the bottom of my laptop and it loaded fine. when i go to activate vista, i get a message detailing that the key is not valid. i went to the genuine validation page and it states that everything is valid, but i still cannot activate vista.
is there something specific such as my disk will only work with the oe key that came preinstalled on the laptop?
please try to keep responses to average user, not tech wizard (not that smart yet.)
thank you,
jatman

If you upgrade from one version of Windows Vista to another version using the Windows Vista Anytime Upgrade disc, then you'll have to purchase a license (product key) for the upgrade version. The product key affixed to your PC is only valid with the original version of Windows Vista that came preinstalled on your computer.
