  • Question

  • Hi,

Apparently I don't own a genuine Office, and really don't know what to do from here. I ran MGADiag; this is the report:

  • Morning Jekd,

Thank you for visiting the Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) program forum. I understand the inconvenience you are currently experiencing. We have seen numerous issues from customers who were provided a Volume License Key (VLK) on their computer that has either been blocked by Microsoft or generated by a fake product key code generator. WGA currently provides checks for these types of product keys and prompts the user to notify them of this situation. More invalid product keys are being identified daily and WGA is constantly refreshing its database with these newly identified product keys and immediately blocks them. Below I have extracted a portion of the MGA results to share.

    OGA Data-->
    Office Status: 108 Invalid VLK

As a rule, VL editions should not be sold to individual consumers. Businesses, schools and governments normally use VL editions for flexibility in installing many computers.  Also, Volume Licenses for Windows XP is Upgrade licenses ONLY and cannot be used as the original or base license for a new computer.  Jekd if this is a corporate system please ask your systems administrator to logon to the eOpen site (
https://eopen.microsoft.com/EN/default.asp) and confirm what your company’s assigned VLK. If this computer is not a corporate system please uninstall Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007. Next please restart your computer and try to Validate once again.

You have a couple options available. First you should have been given the option to "Get Genuine" when you failed OGA validation. Here you may purchase an OGA Kit from Microsoft and become genuine. Next you can take the software back where you made the original purchase and either request a genuine copy of Office or return your monies. Next I would recommend for you to file a piracy report by following the directions @
http://www.microsoft.com/piracy. Please locate "Reporting Piracy" in the upper left corner.

    Thank you,

    Stephen

  • I bought it on ebay, and honestly can't believe that it's not genuine. eBay seller has a 100% postitve feedback, very reputable.

Man, I have no idea where to go with this; i can't physically go to the buyer and demand a refund. Can MS help out?

Would it help if I uninstalled and reinstalled the software?

  • Hello JKD_HELP,

Your first course of action should be to notify your seller that the copy of Office purchased from them has come up as Nongenuine.  Refer them to this thread.  Always give your Seller an opportunity to make good.  If no success voluntarily, please investigate thru eBay and/or PayPal the procedure for filing a claim for "Significantly Not As Described."

Do you have a link to the exact auction from which you purchased this copy of Office?

Based on what was being advertised by the Seller, did you believe you were bidding/buying a genuine copy of MS Office Professional 2007 or MS Office Professional Plus 2007?  Pro Plus is an edition of Office 2007 that is sold ONLY thru Volume Licensing channels.  The difference in component programs between Pro and Pro Plus is that Pro Plus has Communicator and InfoPath while Pro does not, and Pro has Business Contact Manager while ProPlus does not.

What physical materials did you actually receive from the Seller?  Please describe or better yet link to pix.

If you received what Microsoft would consider a high-quality counterfeit CD, you can participate in the Complimentary Genuine Office Offer, http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/downloads/FAQ.aspx?displaylang=en#ID0EEPAC

  • Hey Jkd-help
    Check my thread here. http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/genuineoffice/thread/155acfc6-ad16-4b78-8a46-33df357a642d
The bottom line is don't stuff around contacting the seller, just go through the steps for the genuine advantage offer. Get a new one from Microsoft. So long as your copy is a high quality counterfeit.
    Cheers
    Andrew
