eDirectory and Groupwise on Home Server RRS feed

  • has anyone tried installing eDirectory and GroupWise server on a Home Server yet?

    Will it break it like Active Directory?

  • Why not try it and let us know the result? However, if you're planning to roll this out in a production environment, you should make sure that your solution is fully supported by somebody. Microsoft certainly won't support third party directory solutions, so you'll need to make sure your vendor supports their software on Windows Home Server.

    Active Directory is a problem because it completely changes the security model; once you've promoted a server to a DC, you no longer have local accounts on that server, you only have domain accounts.
