Windows 7 Install Error

Question
-
So I have Windows 7 64 bit and I've been trying to instal the XP/Vista 64 bit software but it errors out with error #80070F7 and says the following:
Please reboot to fix registry corruption.
The registry is corrupted. The structure of one of the files containng registry data is corrupted or the system's memory image of the file is corrupted or the file could not be recovered because the alternate copy or log was absent or corrupted.
Of course, I have rebooted to no avail. Any ideas?Tuesday, March 2, 2010 5:48 PM

It sure sounds like the registry is corrupted based on that error message. Doing a search for that error, I can find no results.
Are you sure that you are installing the correct version? On Windows 7 64 bit, the installer would be the Vista 64 one. There is no XP 64 installer and the only XP/Vista installer is 32 bit.

I spoke with IT at my firm and they think the same thing. I tried both and I'm guessing I tried the wrong one first and it screwed something up.Tuesday, March 2, 2010 10:43 PM

If you tried installing the wrong version, it wouldn't screw anything up, it would simply fail to run.
