New network SSID, Network Key RRS feed

  • Question

  • I had a secure network, set up for my Lynksys router.  I was just unable to go online, Windows Live OneCare prompted me to allow it to automatically set up a new network, so I no longer am on my former secure network.  Is my new network secure---it does not indicate whether or not it is secure.

  • If you allowed OneCare to configure your wireless connection, it configured a secure connection.
However, if your network was already secure, it seems that your network was unavailable and perhaps you were connected to your neighbor's unsecured network. If that is the case, OneCare has just locked your neighbor's wireless network down.
You probably want to check the available networks list in Windows and see if you are connected to your own router or someone else's.
