Location of metadata of SyncToy? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I have been using the program Unison to file sync for about 2 years now. Now I would like to give SyncToy a try. My question is, where is the location of the sync metadata? I read that SyncToy creates folders in each folder that I want to sync (which is no option for me). Is that correct, or does SyncToy use a central folder to keep all those metadata?

Thanks a lot for your help

  • Does no one know where SyncToy stores its sync data?

  • For each endpoint (folder), SyncToy stores the sync data (metadata) in the endpoint (folder) itself. By default, it's stored as a file named SyncToy*dat and is hidden. Moving, modifying or renaming this file is likely to adversely impact the folder pair's syncing.
