hi thanks for reply , it was originally vista home premium, but 7 ultimate was already installed when i bought it ( it was second hand machine) so no discs unfortunatley, i will now try  ur suggestion above will post back once ive tried it thanks

As Carey suggests, your best option is to acquire the proper Recovery disks for this machine – the current installation (in view of your information) is non-genuine, and has been hacked into the system somehow.
You’ll need to back up all you data first.

    You have two issues.
    1) The BIOS in this machine is not Win7-compliant – which makes me think that this is perhaps an older machine with an updated BIOS. For what version and edition of Windows is it licensed, ACCORDING TO THE COA sticker on the machine’s case?

    2) Your Licensing Store appears to be corrupt
    Recreate the Licensing Store
    1) Click Start button.
    2) Type: CMD.exe into the 'Search programs and files' field
    3) Right-Click on CMD.exe and select Run as Administrator
    4) Type: net stop sppsvc (It may ask you if you are sure, select yes)
Note: the Software Protection service may not be running, this is ok.
    5) Type: cd %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareProtectionPlatform
    6) Type: rename tokens.dat tokens.bar
    7) Type: cd %windir%\system32
    8) Type: net start sppsvc
    9) Type: slui.exe
    10) After a couple of seconds Windows Activation dialog will appear. You may be asked to re-activate and/or re-enter your product key or Activation may occur automatically.

Run MGADiag again, and post the report, together with details of any error messages encountered.

hi i have completed the above, but it was saying that , net stop sppsvc is an invalid command , i continued to the end  and ran diag again:

Interesting! – there’s no way that the command is not a valid one, providing that you type it correctly

    In an Elevated Command Prompt,
    type
    NET STOP
do you get “The syntax of the command.....” or something different?

If you get something different – what?
    try
    NET STOP SPPSVC
what do you get this time?

try NET on its own – what happens (you should get a list of the options)

All this is however, beside the point – you installation is non-genuine, and whatever we do will not make it genuine (unless you have a valid unused Win7 Ultimate key hanging around)
