Reinstall onecare and register

Question
-
After the necessary installation of updates required in One Care (SP3 plus others) The firewall would not start and after following the recommended steps OneCare was removed and reinstalled. Now I can't get it registered with an existing account. I've done all of the recommended steps a number of times now and am fully frustrated.
HOW DO I REACTIVATE AN EXISTING ACCOUNT??

To activate One Care to an existing subscription open One Care, select "Subscribe" and when asked to enter a Live ID use the Live ID and password used to purchase your subscription. Your subscription status will be recognized and One Care will activate.Friday, July 18, 2008 3:56 AMModerator

If you don't recall the LiveID you used for your subscription, you will need to contact support who can provide that information to you using your Key and/or contact information.

Alternatively, sign in at http://billing.microsoft.com with email addresses that you have set up as LiveIDs and one will show your subscription listed - that would the LiveID to use to activate with.
If the activation dialog already contains a LiveID from a prior attempt or one used in trial mode, but this is not the one you need to activate with to associate it with your subscription, see this post for how to reset this - http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2776450&SiteID=2

I love this line from . MS "All-in-one PC care: comprehensive, automatic, and easy-to-use." Sorry I can't agree.
Following your procedures has not worked. Using the existing/previously used LiveID, I have used the product key, which was "Already in use" (message 8059), attempted to link to the other computer using this key and was denied for attempting to use the password too many times.
Regarding billing...
No billing accounts
This Windows Live ID does not currently have a billing relationship with Microsoft.

Yes, activation is way more painful and complicated than it needs to be. We agree on that point for sure.
My previous reply above outlines what you need to do. Once a subscription has been activated initially, you can never use that key again except in conversation with support to determine the LiveID for your subscription - which is where you are now.
If logging in at the Billing site says there is no Billing account, that means you activated the subscription with a different email address/LiveID.
Contact support to determine what that LiveID is.

Okay, question for you all:
How does one person with six computers and two copies of one Care Register as you are not allowed to register more than three under the same Live ID?
I had this person create a new ID but doesn't that seem a bit much? Don't you think Microsoft ought to be able to accomodate more than 3 per ID ?
Just a nuisance and vent more than a question :-)

Yes, there *should* be a facility to allow one to purchase additional licenses for the same LiveID, but that doesn't exist at this time. Therefore, the only option at this time is to use a second LiveID for computers 4 through 6, a 3rd LiveID for 7 to 9, etc.
