Delay in Reports Execution RRS feed

  • Question

  • When selecting a report to run from the selection list intermittantly we see a significant delay (>1 min) between when the white screen is displayed and the indicator that the report is being generated (spinning green circle) is displayed. The reports eventually run, but the delay before the green 'processing' circle appears does resembles the other lock-up scenerios. The problem is intermittant and seems to appear more frequently in the morning when the first report of the day is run. Subsequent attempts to run a report do not have the same delay.

Loading the report seems to stall when loading particular items.  Please advise hot ot handle this.

  • The scenrio you experience in the morning is because the resources for the report server have been released as there has been a period of inactivity. Report server does have a time delay when starting for the first time.

You can update the report server application pool in IIS to not recycyle and this will prevent delay or set a recycle time to a very large amount so it only recycles on weekends.
