Will M.S. ICE ever be able to render via cuda or opencl on video cards? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I don't need to remind people how many cuda cores are on a graphics card, or how faster graphics cards can render.

Does anybody, seriously, anybody in Microsoft's research division know of any ANY possible plans to render images not only on CPU, but using GPU technology as well?

Microsoft ICE is by far one of the most powerful photo image stitching software on the market.  I'd really, REALLY love to have an upgrade of ICE to handle CUDA/OpenCL technologies to better speed up renderings.

What's the honest chance of this happening???

For those wondering, I would be HAPPY to pay for a version of ICE to have this technology in it.

    Thank you

  • There is some question in my mind as to who at Microsoft Research is still around to work on ICE.

Matt Uyttendale and Eric Stollnitz (the two guys from MSR who used to answer questions here on the ICE forum) have both left Microsoft Research to go to Facebook Research and Adobe Research around November 2015.
