MS CRM Email Router explained

Question
-
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on the potential setup of the crm email router and/or MS Outlook Client.
My scenario/requirements are as follows:
1. Allow emails to be sent and received in CRM web client
2. The organization has a large number of users who will need to use CRM. Each user obviously has their on exhange mailbox that they currently use Outlook to send/recieve and manage email. I have seen videos on how to connect /configure emaill router with Exchange Server. However, we would only want to 'Track in CRM' relevant emails not those from mum and dad and/or friends that they receive in their email box. As i understand it they can use the 'Track in CRM' and set the 'Regarding' option to sync the email with the relevant account/lead/opportunity/case etc.
3. The client has a number of dedicated mailboxes for (sales, support, feedback) etc that only certain people have access to. Of particular importance is how to setup access to these mailboxes for certain users or is this still done by the existing exchange rules and these users can use the 'Track in CRM' and 'set regarding' options as above. For example if the sales team received an email about a potential sale with a new customer what would be the general method of dealing with this as there would not be an account/lead/opportunity in CRM to sync it against.
I know i have probably not explained myself very well but I am trying to decide if we need the email rounter or CRM outlook client or a combination of both to meet the above requirements. I probably need to see some real life example of how this is setup and working before i make a decision.
I am looking for any and all advice on this.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I have installed the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 E-mail Router. I am using On-Premise version. This is a dev machine so the instalation of CRM is clean with on the administrator (me) as a user.
Here is what i need to configure the e-mail router to do:
1. When account is created I have a workflow that is setup to email a address; lets say admins@mydomain.com.
2. The email includes a link that when clicked on completes a field on the account and causes an email to be sent to the email address stored for that account
How do i configure the CRM and email router to sucessfully do incoming and outgoing email to do this? Do i need details of the SMTP server to use?
I have looked at the guides but still can't seem to send email all it says 'Email has been queued'.
Apologies if this is obvious but this is my first encounter with the email router.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
You can also use a Queue for your scenario. You can find how it is done here http://video.mikelu.org/emailrouterpop3/emailrouterpop3.html

Hi,
Yes i have a queue setup and i can see the emails that come in.
When i try to reply to them i can see the email appears in Activities and the status reason is 'Pending Send'. When I open the email it says 'This message has not yet been submitted for delivery'. It also says 'At least one recipient can not be resolved to a record in the system' i guess this is because i am trying to send to my own personal hotmail account as a test.
I have checked the setting for queu and it is set both incoming and outgoing to the email router.
Can anyone tell me why my emails are not going out? Could it be something not set on the POP3 account/exchange server?
Thanks.
