Create contract and contract Line using workflow when sales order is fullfilled in CRM 2011 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

I woould like to create a contract and contract line using a workflow when a sales order is full filled.

I was able to create the contract but for some reason contract line is not accessible through workflow.

What I want is I want to be able to copy order information and all the "order product" under that order to contract entity when order is fullfilled.

This is for technical support , any time they get a call , they would like to see the contract start and end date and what prooduct is sold , the quantity ... in one page if possible or without clicking a lot and. Also without going deep into accout detail.

Please help any input is appreciated.  any link related to this subject please attach. Thanks a lot.

  • You are right, contract lines isn't shown in the Create step of workflows. So, Contract Lines cannot be created using the OOB workflow designer. Alternatively, you can write a custom workflow activity to create a contract line and then proceed with the rest of your process.

  • Mamatha,

Thanks you for your response. I have never done custom workflow activity. if there is no other way to copy the list of order products to contract entity I will learn how to do it.

But can you give me a tip on how to get started to copy the list of order products to contract entity using custom workflow activity ? Thanks a lot

  • YM,

If you want a workflow to do this then custom workflow activity is the only way to create contract lines. Am not sure of your design but if it fits then you can implement the same functionality using plugin.

    Using Workflow

    1. From your workflow pass the ContractID and the OrderID to the custom workflow activity

    2. In the custom workflow retrieve the order products and create Contract Lines (you want to copy products?)
