XP version of Windows Live OneCare will not work on Vista RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a unused XP version of Windows Live OneCare that I never used.  I am now trying to load it on Vista and it tells me it is looking for XP Service Pack 2 and that is as far as it goes.  I have Vista Home Premium installed.

How do I get an updated disk to replace this one?

  • You do not need the CD to install One Care. To add a computer to an existing subscription - http://onecare.live.com/standard/en-us/install/addcomputerinstall.htm

If you are using One Care for the first time you can download One Care and activate the product key here - http://onecare.live.com/standard/en-us/purchase/default.htm

  • As Jim noted, you will need to install from the link he provided because you apparently have a v1.0 CD which was not valid for Vista, only XP. Your retail product key can be used to activate after you install from the web site. My recommendation is to leave it in trial mode for a bit as you can get up to 90 days before you must activate your subscription. If you already have a subscription, activate right away. A new subscription begins as soon as you activate on the first PC.
