Move to OCS 2007 R2 Edge Server then connect to 2007 R1 Pool RRS feed

  • Question

  • Currently the environment that I administer is running a single OCS 2007 Edge Server which is connecting to a single OCS 2007 Standard Pool.  I must renew the public certificates on the edge interfaces soon. In the next few months, I would like to upgrade our Standard Pool to the R2 release.

    Here are my questions:

    1. Iis it possible to replace our current Edge Server with a new OCS 2007 R2 Edge Server which would connect to our OCS 2007 R1 Standard Pool? I am looking to prevent the need to purchase new public certificates for the edge interfaces if I upgraded later. I was reading through the Microsoft documentation but didn't find a direct answer:  http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd425356(office.13).aspx

    2. If this is possible would I lose any functionality?

    3. Also, would I have to change anything in the internal pool assuming that server names and IPs remain the same?

Thanks in advance for any help that is provided.
