Should question threads marked as answer RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • be closed for adding after a certain time frame of not being touched (3 month or something like this)? Or give a user a message, if he replies to such a long time untouched thread at least.

I see the trend, that users add their own question to threads, which have not been touched for more than a year, are marked as answered, may not be related to the current status of the product and are difficult to follow up due to their length.

I see this trend too. Its annoying for all the reasons given above and the fact that the subject sometimes is only semi-relevant.

I would reduce the time though (to 6 months). In SharePoint land even six months' old posts are out of date as we have seen several cumulative upgrades since then.

I don't think *closing* is the solution. I think they should automatically (in the case - as written above - that they are marked as answered) be moved to read-only status.

  • Hi Mike,
read only was what I meaned with "closed for adding", was only lack of wording.
6 month would also be ok.

  • Sorry. You said that. I read it too quickly and just saw the "closed".
