    Sure. :)

Very often when I start Final Fantasy XIV (an mmorpg) it crashes shortly after selecting ones character and that error message pops up.

And so far I can track the problem it seems to have something to do with Windows.

    Windows 7 64 Ultimate

    Asus P6T Deluxe, i7 920 @ 4Ghz, OCZ Platinum XTC 6Gb @ 1707Mhz, nVidia GTX 285, Vertex 30Gb x 3 i raid 0, Asus Xonar Essence STX

  • @Gascogne, I feel your pain. I'm having the same error message on two graphic programs. Did anyone ever resolve it? I noticed that Microsoft's "tier 2 tech" hasn't replied since Oct. 10.

If not, were you able to find a solution? I could really use help, I'm trying to get Christmas pictures to friends and family, plus I have some art I need to get done. Btw, Asus is a great board choice! I'm unfortunately on a make due Pesario tower... lol! Working on a gamer/graphic art tower presently! Honestly, if a user didn't have to write shells for each and every thing, I'd suggest Linux at this point. Or even Lindows if you're comfortable with Windows interfacing. Since Win98 SE, Microsoft has outsourced it's tech support to third-world countries where the staff read out of books, rather than having any qualifications or experience to speak of. Microsoft has also been writing ____ coding that looks pretty but either doesn't work, works shoddy, or excludes integral programming vital to the operations and function of computers or computing itself. (I turned down a job with them for exactly that reason. They do not back their product but oooh will they charge you for it!)

@ Sudarshan shindode I too am having a problem with the same error message.... and I just purchased Corel Paint Shop Pro X3 because some genius at Microsoft decided that Win7 wouldn't be backward compatible. (Excuse my sheer anger, but you should NOT have to replace and purchase ALL your software and loose software you love just because someone decided the software companies aren't making enough money. It isn't like Apple wrote OSX... I mean Windows 7! It's not like Microsoft had time to learn with ME, XP -and the anti-trust suit from Sun-.... And I did research the compatibility... .)

Now then, the error is on Corel PaintShop Pro X3 and Corel PaintShop Photo Project Creator. The error happens during photo retouching ........... if I use the Smart Photo Fix in PaintShop, I get the error. The same happens in Photo Creator when I try to create an album, slide show, calender and so forth.

If you do not feel the need to respond (as has happened since Win95 with your 'tech support'), please elevate this to the next tier because your company obviously has a problem it needs to patch. I mean fix....

We can come to a conclusion that Windows 7 has a graphics compatibility or stability problem. As with Gasconge's issue, my own pos will work on the equations for the image mapping/modifications for roughly 45 seconds before crashing the program.

If Microsoft cannot get it together and create programs that are compatible and inclusive, your corporation needs to start either refunding the cost of new computers or the software purchase price. Out of running everything from 95 to 7-64 bit (excluding ME, though I have worked on machines with it), the ONLY OS your company got right for compatibility was Win2k.... where your company removed the most useful diagnostic tools..........................................

  • Ok, it has bin a long time since the last comment, but i stumbeled on to this thread while having a similar problem.

    My Error code:
    Problem Event Name: APPCRASH

Now the weird thing is that I was able to play the game (Europa Universalis 3) without any problems before, but then it refused to start and showed me this error.

Turns out that running the .exe as an administrator solved the problem for me (easy fix, not sure if it will work for anyone else). Still the weird thing is how I didn’t need to run it as an administrator before, but anyhow, just in case anyone runs in to the same problem, it might be worth trying something simple like this – EAVEN IF YOU WERENT REQUIRED TO RUN IT AS ADMINISTRATOR BEFORE – and I haven’t updated or changed the game in any way BYW – so it must be something in windows…
