received WGA kit waiting on CD to reformat hard drive RRS feed

  • Question

  • I received the new product key in the email after purchase and it said that the rest of the product has been shipped (new CD) once I receive the CD i would prefer to reformat the hard drive becasue the partitions are all messed up. Once I receive the CD, would I be able to plug in the new product key upon reformatting/reinstalling windows on the hard drive? Or do I need to use the convert tool on the machine with the new product key? then once the CD arrives reformat/reinstall windows?

    Thanks for your timely response!

  • Once you receive your genuine Windows XP CD, you can indeed perform a "clean install" using the new CD and the genuine Product Key you already received. If you encounter an issue with activating Windows XP via the internet, chose the alternative method to "activate by phone".

  • thank you for your timely response. I am in the process of backing up all of the digital camera pictures saved on the hard drive in order to not lose any of this info when when i decide to do a clean install.
