Cyrillic (Russian) keyboard support

Question
-
In this time and age it is so unacceptable to have an OS that obviously supports unicode but has no way of switching between 2 (at least) different keyboards. I have T-Mobile Shadow and can read html and text both in English and Russian. Unfortunatly, there is NO WAY to switch the keyboard to type in Russian. Even if there was xT9, just simple ability to switch to Russian and be able to type a message on the phone or enter contacts, would be great. After such a significant progress in multilanguage support in desktop Windows OS, why do we strat from ground 0 in Windows Mobile? Haven't we been through this? Haven't we learned anything?
Microsoft, why don't you help your users to have a better, user friendlier experience? People use more than one language!!!!!!!!Friday, January 4, 2008 1:49 AM

ok, I have Pantech Duo, the company says that they only released it in NA so no way to get Russian in it. None of the programms mentioned above work, it's a smart phone and the majority are for the pocket PC. The very first one installed - Pocketkeys - but I don't know how to even turn it on. May be it just doesn't work..

I wish I could help you out but I have not tried those programs. Have you contacted the software maker?Sunday, June 29, 2008 12:33 AMModerator

I completely agree. Nothing works on Shadow.
Maybe it was not clear in my original post that Cyrillic was needed for a non-touch smart phone (Shadow in this case), not for a Pocket PC. The software maker in this case is of course Microsoft. There are both commercial and free programs for Pocket PC devices that can solve this problem, but none that I know of for a smart phone. It is worse than ridiculous that Microsoft did not implement a language switcher similar to the one they have on desktop Windows. If they did, we would not have to search all over the internet for a driver for our pocket devices.Sunday, June 29, 2008 1:40 PM -

You are out of luck for the most part. You'll be able to read Russian if your phone is Windows Mobile, but you will not be able to type in Russian on such a device.Sunday, June 29, 2008 1:50 PM -
Really?! :-( What about the Blackberry Storm? It's a touch-screen, so I was hoping it would have Russian and Latin keyboards if I kept both languages on it. My dad does not understand Russian words written in English letters.
