Is it still working? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am using XP.  My IE 7 has become corrupted.  At the moment, I am using Firefox.  The Live OneCare green icon has disappeared from the bottom, right bar.  It's "health" definitely seems to be connected with an active IE, as I can't even view a OneCare virus report.  Is it still working??????

  • At the bottom right of your taskbar (near the clock) should be a little arrow, it's there because XP "hides" icons where the application hasn't been used in a while. This dousn't mean the application isn't running just that you haven't launched it from that icon for a while.

Click on the arrow and it should extend to the left - hopefully you should  see the onecare icon.

If it isn't there then go to start>all programs and launch it from there.

Re IE7 have you tried the reset button (tools>internet option)? Or if that fails uninstall it and download it again.

If the icon does not appear even when expanding the system tray, it is possible you've got a problem with the wssnotify part of OneCare.

Once you've gotten the IE problem sorted, if OneCare is still not working properly, contact support.

For the 2.0 beta (where you posted) -

http://help.live.com/help.aspx?project=onecarev2 -use the "Get More Help" link in the lower right of the page to contact support via email.

Support for v1.6 is via the information here - http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=1183038&SiteID=2
