Printer is permanently "offline". Have tried everything I know.

Question
-
I'll try again after my last message was called spam and disappeared.
I have done everything I know how to do - rebooted printer and computer, reinstalled printer driver, checked the physical connection between my printer and the router (not a wireless printer). Nothing.
I checked on line and was told to find the printer under "Printers" in Device Manager. There is no such thing; only an entry called "Printer Queues". Are these the same? If not, any idea what would have happened to "Printers"?
If they are the same, the entry for my printer just shows it is offline as does every other place in settings.
I'm not enough of a techie to know what to do if I uninstall the printer and then can't reinstall it. So I haven't taken that step yet.
Any ideas, anyone?
