    Can I turn on Vista Defender with Windows Live OneCare?

  • Yes, but OneCare will turn it back off again. The only reason to do this would be to use one of the extras of Defender that are not included in OneCare - Software Explorer is the main reason. You can turn it on and then turn it back off. OneCare includes and expands on the protection in Defender, which is why OneCare disables it - they use the same engine.
