  • Question

  • Hi all,

My activation dramas are essentially the same as everybody else (even a combination of a few) except I haven't changed one thing, hardware or software.

It was all going well until I returned from holidays to find that my copy of windows was now not genuine.  I got the usual "product key in use" message when trying reactivate.  It's telling me in properties that it is activated but when I go to validate my copy so I can download the KB to fix the product key issue it won't until windows is activated.  I even got an email this evening thanking me for "activating" windows.

Where do I turn?  I've tried all the suggestions on the other treads (phone activation and the like) and am now at an end.  I've emailed tech support (3 days ago) and am yet to get an answer.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • HI

I tried the whole activation bizzo again on the off chance it may work.  This time it accepted my product key using the internet activation but it still wouldn't validate due to non activation.

I tried the phone activation again and this time the nice lady told me that the key was already in use and directed to a real person who gave me the activation code over the phone.  I hit the old validation site again and this time success!  I restarted my machine and no more issues.

    bloody fantastic!

Please post the results of the WGA diagnostics tool (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012) with any new question.

    Thank you!

I wondered what that was all about.  Sorry.  Does it help?
