  • I'm curious, how many lines are you trying to send and what is your limit?

  • I don't really know myself.
I tried 150 lines/7800 characters and it's ok, but 200 lines/10400 characters is not (error message: unable to send the message). Some software developers, willing to share some (huge) pieces of source code, asked me to increase the maximum message size

  • One might wonder if this is the right tool to share source code

Have you tried explaining File Transfer?

  • Nope, they are clever enough to understand it themselves ! Stick out tongue
As they are working on huge projects, they would like something faster than transfering files : copy/message/paste. Moreover, it's pretty useless to transfer a 5k lines file if only 200 lines are to be sent.
I asked this question because I know that MessengerPlus and StuffPlugNG allow to increase the maximum number of lines for WLM. I wonder if it's possible to do so with MOC : registry key, configuration file...

  • I was very curious about this aswel so I contacted Microsoft Support

This was the answer I got:

Based on my research, we have an initial IM message limit of 8000
characters when a conversation starts.  We then can type up to 8000
characters before hitting that limit. As of now, we have no way to change
    the configuration.

  • Thank you for your interest in the subject. I've just tried sending 8000 characters, and it's ok. It seems to be more of a "number of lines" issue than a "number of characters" issue.

  • I'm in the 8000 characters camp. Did some testing on this earlier in the year: http://www.confusedamused.com/notebook/ocs-2007-message-limits/
