Running an entire excel workbook on a node using a service RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have a workbook that contains a macro that runs a number of calculations (calling third party products via com) that places the results into various tabs. The requirement is to run this workbook (template) in batch mode which would generate approx. 1500 separate workbooks with different results.

The idea is to create a service which wraps a call to the macro via interop services (passing in a unique id which is used to name the workbook). The last stage of the macro would be to save the workbook to a server directory. Each node would have all of the relevant products loaded ie excel, third party components. Is this possible? (I have looked at the HPC excel examples but they all seem to be directed towards a client model).

  • For your scenarios, maybe you can create a batch job contains 1500 tasks, in each task, call a excel client application to caculate the result and save results.

Basically, current HPC SOA Excel is a client model, can't solve your request perfectly.
