Vista Key is Invalid

Question
-
I shut down my LifeBook at work, brought it back to the hotel and started it up. I got a message that the key was invalid. I copied the key off the bottom of the machine and reentered it and it is still invalid. I did an online status check and the key is invalid. How do I get this fixed?
It worked just fine all last week, over the weekend and up to 5pm today. I have made no changes to anything.

Hi lcole66,
If the steps that Carey gave, do not resolve your issue, would you download and run the Genuine Diagnostics tool at this link http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012. Click "Continue" click the Windows tab, click the "Copy" button, then paste the report into a response message in this thread.

Hello. I experienced the exact same problem as the fellow above, and followed the recommendations, however was unable to locate the specified file to reset the validation process. As I understand from reading a few different forums, because my license is an OEM type, I should contact the place of purchase to resolve this problem? In any case, and in the hopes that you might be able to help anyway, I continued on and ran the diagnostic tool, and these were the results:

Unfortunately, your Dell Dimension 3000 was manufactured way back in the year 2004 which is three (3) years before Windows Vista was released. Your computer is therefore not licensed for the Dell OEM SLP version of Windows Vista that is currently installed. You can either reformat the hard drive and reinstall the original Windows XP Home edition that originally came with that computer using a Dell Windows XP Home Edition Reinstallation disc. Also, your installed copy of Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 is counterfeit.
