For PIC Federation does the Edge Server need access to a DNS Server

Question
-
For PIC does the access edge server need to be able to talk to a DNS server or will a host entry for the following be enough
sip.oscar.aol.com
lcsap.msg.yahoo.com
federation.messenger.msn.com
The reason for asking is that the access edge server is in a DMZ and the firewall rules block DNS.
Thanks for any help

Adding the hosts you listed to a hosts file with the correct IPs should allow PIC to work, but you will not be able to federate with any other OCS servers without adding their IP addresses to the host file as well.

Fairly confident the answer is yes. Look at your access edge under the IM provider tab.
