Unecessery Programs RRS feed

  • Question

When I start Onecare I get a message to say that:-

The start up program list contains some unnecessary programs…….click on “Fix” button.

I do that and then it just keeps coming up with "retry" no mention of what programs need removing.

Any ideas of how to identify the programs?

  • Normally, when "Fix" doesn't work, I would refer you to support -

However, I think you can resolve this yourself by opening OneCare and clicking on Change Settings and then going to the Tune-up tab and clicking on "Change startup settings."

A windows should apear listing programs identified as being scheduled for startup when the PC starts. You should be able to turn off items in the list that are not needed.

Alternatively, run msconfig from Start/Run and uncheck startup items there and reboot.
