MS Office Activation request when already activated. RRS feed

  • Question

  • O/S: MS Windows, Ver 5.1 (Build 2600.xpsp_sp3_gdr.080814-1236 : Service Pack 3)
    Br: IE Version 8.0.6001. 18372

    PRODUCT
    Office XP Professional

Message: After downloading the upgrade to ver 8 of IE, I was prompted to validate my MS Office software.
I was presented with a Geniune MS software failure report from http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/office/FailureReport.aspx  which told me that "the MS Office XP Pro validation process could not be completed because a copy of MS Office on this computer has not been activated".
I have visited each of the modules in MS Office, and am told that "This product has already been activated"
The products are genuine, and I have the original disks with product keys.
There is a little MS icon in my system tray, reminding me every day to activate my MS Office. Please advise what I should do to stop the reminders about activation of MS Office.
    Regards,
    Ric Allberry

  • Hello Riccles,

Here is a snippet of your mgadiag report:

    OGA Data-->
    Office Status: 101 Not Activated
Microsoft Office XP Professional - 101 Not Activated
    OGA Version: Registered, 1.7.111.0
    Signed By: Microsoft
    Office Diagnostics: 025D1FF3-230-1_3E121E02-385-80004005_3E121E02-452-80004005_3E121E02-312-80004005

As you mentioned, the mgadiag report is showing your Office XP Pro installation as Not Activated, which will cause the Validation messages and icon that you are seeing.

Recently we have seen a large number of posts from valued Microsoft customers like you, reporting that their longtime Genuine and Validated installations of Office XP have suddenly become not activated.

In most cases, following Method 2 of this MS KB article takes care of the situation:  http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/903275

Please follow Method 2, then when activated, please visit www.microsoft.com/genuine to validate.

Post back to let us know if it worked for you. :-)
