Question Re: system files on initial install RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am setting up a WHS with 4x1.5tb drives.  I also have a old 120gb drive.  Is it possible/worth it to install the WHS OS on the 120gb drive and exclude if from any file storage leaving the 6tbs for all the stuff that WHS is for?  What about add ins?

  • No, it's not possible to use the 120 GB drive that way. When you install Windows Home Server it will use one drive (normally the "first" drive it sees) as the system drive, splitting that drive into two partitions: 20 GB for the system, and [everything - 20 GB] for data. You don't have any control of this process.
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)
