Problem with Outlook Client addon for CRM 2011 (no preview pane for "set regarding") RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

some of my users have a problem with the preview window for tracked emails and I couldn't find any solution for this until now. When they track an email the "set regarding" window does not appear below the email.

They have Office 2010 with SP 1 installed and Outlook Client with Rollup 3. Reinstalling the Outlook Client and repairing Office 2010 didn't solve the problem. I hope someone can help me.

    Thanks a lot,

    Thomas

  • Think I might have figured out a possible solution to this problem.  I noticed that the issue arose only after installing Office 2007, our company specific applications, upgrading to Office 2010, and then installing CRM.  Turning on "Show add-in user interface errors" in the Advanced Outlook options produced an error that only appeared on machines that were taken through that specific upgrade cycle. This error appears after you close and restart Outlook after enabling the show add-in interface errors option.  The error said:

"The form region MSCRM_WebPageFormRegion cannot be opened.  The form region manifest contains invalid XML."

After much digging, if you uninstall "Microsoft Office 2007 Primary Interop Assemblies" from Programs and Features, the Set Regarding Pane becomes available again.

So in short, check for a similar error to what I was experiencing.  If you get something similar, perform that uninstall of the 2007 Interop Assemblies and see if the set regarding pane shows back up.

I hope this can help others out that were struggling with the issue as much as I was!

    Thanks!

  • We are seeing the same issue.  The regarding pane does not appear for some users on all acitivites that they create.  We are in the process of trying to determine the differences between the users that see the regarding pane and those that don't but some help in the meantime would be nice.

    Hope somebody has a solution.

  • Hi there. We are on Office 2010 and have the same issue. When you open an Outlook Contact or Appointment record, the CRM disappears from the ribbon so you cannot track the record to CRM.  Email is fine but not in Contact or Company.  When trying to right click on an appointment in the Outlook Calendar, the Track in CRM and Set Regarding come up in the list however when you select one of them, nothing happens.

I did not find "Microsoft Office 2010 Primary Interop Assemblies" in the users Programs and Features.

Any ideas how to get the CRM buttons on the ribbon for Outlook Appointments and Contacts? CRM is in the Outlook ribbon otherwise.

    Thanks!

  • Hi Jennifer,

Not sure if you're still having this issue, but usually that's due to the Synchronization Filters for Contacts and Appointments not being active (CRM -> Personal Options -> Synchronization Tab -> Filters hyperlink).
