Cannot create a text file in Windows Vista of another files Long filename in the same location RRS feed

  • Question

  • In Windows Vista Enterprise Environment ,

The System does not allow me to create a filename which is a longfile name of another existing file.

    Example :

C05139~1.ann is a long file name of the file C01539~23.ann.

I am unable to create a file with the name C05139~1.ann in the same location.
It throws an error saying Rename file. " Do you want to rename a" "There is already a file with the same name in this location"

    Kindly note:
In Microsoft Windows XP, Professional , Version 2002, SP3 . the system allows me to cretae a file name of another files longfile Name.
Both Vista and the XP machine are in NTFS.

Please let me know how to create a filename of another files Longfile Name in Windows Vista environment.

    Thanks
