off topic - Svchost.exe problem 100% CPU Usage

  I currently have this problem where my cpu usage spikes to 100% resulting in slow response and my computer doesn't function very well. I searched microsoft for a solution and they gave me an update package and I downloaded and installed it but it didn't have any effect. I also ran spybot/avg/norton and it didn't pick up anything. Help needed!
