PSTN phone ringing, but when picked up: "Call not completed or has ended" RRS feed

  • Question

  •  In a setup with OCS and Nortel CS1K, we are experiencing that when outside the company network, but on VPN, a call being made from the OC Client to a PSTN number will ring the PSTN phone, but is disconnected as soon as the PSTN phone is picked up.

The moment the PSTN phone is picked up the OC Client goes to "busy tone" showing the error message: "Call not completed or has ended". Clicking the error message will further show: "An error occurred during the call. More details (ID:0)

Using Snooper I get this INVITE when the call is (not) being established:

    SIP/2.0 500 Internal Server Error

    Ms-diagnostics: 0;source="[mediation server 1]";reason="Internal error";component="MediationServer";Exception="Unable to establish a connection.";GatewayFqdn="[OCS Proxy Load Balancer IP-address]"

  • This problem was solved by:

    1. Shutting down the OC Client

    2. At network connections repairing the connection used for VPN

    3. Open the OC Client and login again

It seems the OC Client is logging in differently depending on the pc being connected via VPN or not. The VPN having been started after the client was already signed in resulted in the issue above.

Could somebody share some knowledge about the login procedure of the OC Client (VPN or not) and the connection to the phone system?
