Activated OffXP: WGA keeps bothering me ! RRS feed

  • Question

  •

I have Office XP installed (and fully registered + activated) on my system since many years. I have installed, then a couple of week after deinstalled the add-on to read the Word 2007 format. Since then, WGA keeps telling me that my copy of Office is not activated; but when I go into the option to activate any Office XP application, it is already activated ! On the OGA site, the validation check fails without useful hint.

How can I escape this endless loop and have the wga notification pop-up & taskbar icon stop bothering me ????

  • How to troubleshoot problems that you may experience when you try to activate an Office product:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/903275/

    1. Click Start, click Run, type C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Office\Data, and then click OK.
    2. Right-click the Data.dat file, and then click Delete.

Important Do not delete the data.bak file.
    3. Close the folder.
    4. Start an Office XP program to start the Office XP Activation Wizard.
