Loader signs in a Geniun Copy RRS feed

  • Question

  • I recently bought a used Lenovo netbook. the last owner installed the Ultimate version of Windows 7 with a loader. since it was an ungeniune installation I prefer to use the original Home Permeium version. So I used the builtin recovery system and recover the whole system to geniune Home Peremium wondows.

a little while ago I installed Ubuntu Netbook remix beside the windows, and now in the boot menu the option for windows is something like :"Windows 7 (Loader)" .

I wonder what is that "Loader"? cause now I am using the original windows provided by lenovo. and is it a bad sign?

since this a netbook without any optical driver I can not use "Repair" mode.

  • Same word different meanings.

Your Non-genuine copy of Windows was using an Activation Hack (some people call certain types of Activation Hacks Loaders, but in my opinion, that is just Slang)

As for the "Windows 7 (Loader) " Boot menu option, I have never dual-booted with Windows 7 before but I suspect that is expected behavior and should be nothing to worry about.

To be on the safe side, I recommend going to http://microsoft.com/genuine and click the Validate Windows button. This will tell you if any known Activation Hacks (or any other Non-genuine issues) are detected.

    Thank you,
