Validation Problem!

Question
-
I bought my Vaio laptop from CompUSA, with Windows Vista Business already installed on my computer. Recently I began getting some WGA error windows, and I followed the instructions on how to fix the problem, but when I go back to the wga site it still says my copy of Windows is still invalid! I don't know what to do ! I called Vaio support, and they said to simply backup my files and use the recovery disc to configure the computer back to the settings of the original factory condition. I already have quite a few files on my computer and would rather not go through the process of backing them all up! Also I've had a bad experience before with restoring the windows and putting my old files back onto the computer. I was wondering if their were some other solutions to my problem that I could try first! Thanks!

Hello Star87,
Well, it seems that the Diagnostic Tool detected that one critical system file has been modified or become corrupt.
File Scan Data-->
File Mismatch: C:\Windows\system32\rpcrt4.dll[6.0.6000.16525]To replace rpcrt4.dll with an unmodified/uncorrupted copy, you can boot into Safe Mode, go to the control panel, click the "Program and Features" icon and click "View Installed Updates". Once the list of installed updates comes up, find the one with KB933729 at the end of it's name. Rightclick the update and select uninstall. Once that is done, reboot back into normal mode.
Click the option that brings up a Internet Browser. Go to http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=ceca7f8c-7b56-48fc-8c17-87ffadf25629&DisplayLang=en Click download. A window will come up asking if you want to Open or Save...select Open. This will install the update. Once done, reboot 2 times and your issue should be resolved.
If you have any problems following the above steps, then at that point, I would have to agree with Viao support that you should reinstall.
I hope that helps,
Darin Smith
