Echo mode scanning ALL right side folders? RRS feed

  • Question

  • SyncToy 2.1, Windows XP SP3

The left side folder is a subset of the right side folder on a separate drive, when syncing it does a full scan of all folders on the right side (about 300k files) while the left side is just about 5k files. Of course this takes ages to complete.

To me this looks definitely like a bug. Although looking at how change detection is done I understand the difficulties (two scanners and later comparing results). Yet this makes it quite useless in cases like that.

My settings are: Echo, check file contents, exclude a few file types, all subfolders.

    Otherwise its a great tool.

  • I guess why you feel it is not good for you is the low performance, as you check the option, "Check File Contents". Remove this check option, it will speed up the sync process.
