CRM 2013 Outlook Client Fails to install (via SCCM2012) - Failed to find the Visual C++ runtime installation file!!!! RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have all the CRM 2013 PreReqs packaged and installed successfully on my test Windows 7 x64 Operating System that is running Office 2013.

    When it comes to installing the CRM 2013 Client for outlook i get a failure highlighted in the setup log file refering to:

    14:52:15|   Info| Checking whether installer vcredist_x64.exe is locally available
    14:52:16|   Info| Local package for Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime not found
    14:52:16|   Info| Failed to find the Visual C++ runtime installation file VCRedist9SP1\vcredist_x86.exe

    I have manually installed CRM successfully on the same machine and watched what version of MS Visual C++ it installed as it was the following:

    MS Visual C++ 2010 x64 10.0.30319 AND MS Visual C++ 2008 x64 9.0.30729.17

    So i reverted my test machine and manually installed the two required C++ redistributables and re-ran the CRM Application which continued to fail with the same error.  I'm at a loss as to where it is looking or why it thinks the MS Visual C++ redistributables are not installed.  I even installed the x86 one to satisfy the missing file (vcredist_x86.exe) which still resulted in the same error.

    Again if anyone can help appreciated. The error i get from Software Center looks like:
