Forum Editor Problems

General discussion

I have been having problems with the editor showing blank windows when I try to edit my own post. Sometimes, I even get a blank window on the previous post. I always cancel the edit when I have these problems.
As a workaround, I have found that if I right click the edit button and select "Open in New Tab", I get a new tab, with the html code. It is as if one clicks the HTML link above the normal edit box. This allows me to make the change I wanted.

Hi,
Some folks are intermittently getting this problem as well. Though there's no clear pattern as to why this is happening.
We've filed a bug on this.
Btw, FF works fine so this seems to be IE specific.

For the record I'm getting this occasionally when I try to edit *other people's* posts (as a Moderator I can do that), so it's not restricted to editing own posts.I can't confirm that it is IE8 only. I have different machines that I use with the forums with lots of different browsers including IE7; IE8, Chrome; Safari. I've not particularly noticed that this is browser related (which doesn't exclude that it is)

Today, I have been having a different problem. When I click the Reply link, it has been giving me a window higher in the thread instead of directly under the post I clicked Reply on. I am using threaded view.
When I leave the thread and go back to it, my reply is in fact posted where it should be, under the post I replied to, but under all other all "next level" posts under it. Note, this is a reply to deronsec's post.
The good news is that I had no blank window or other problem editing this post.- Edited by Brian Borg Saturday, June 13, 2009 10:06 PM

The same issue is addressed on this thread.
Impossible to reply to a posting using IE8

We have a fix for this. The fix is scheduled to be released on the week of 6/26. However, we might release the fix earlier than that (possibly this week).
This issue is consistent with IE but FF (3.x) seems to work fine.
