Cannot re-install using Windows Genuine Advantage Kit RRS feed

  • Question

  • A couple of years ago I purchased a Windows Genuine Advantage Kit for Windows XP Professional. All was fine until the computer it was installed on died last week. So I decided to re-install the software on another system I had around. However when I try to activate Windows I get error 45090 and no joy. I even tried phone activation to no avail...in fact from where I am it seems impossible to actually talk to a real live person, all I get is automated attendant ____.

  • Hello run8sys,

Please rerun the telephone activation procedure.  It has been posted here by Microsoft moderators that if you do not keypunch anything into the phone activation system while doing a telephonic activation, during normal business hours for your country or region you will be transferred to a live activation representative.

Please try that and let us know if it works for you.
