This copy of windows is not genuine, build 7601 / DELL LAPTOP / hard drive replacement

Question

Hi,
My hard drive was failing, my DELL installed program notified me of this problem. I ordered a new hard drive and made a mirror copy from the defective drive. The new hard drive had corrupted window files so I installed a new copy of Windows 7 and it put all my old files into windows.old folder. It's been working until recently. I getting this "This copy of windows is not genuine, build 7601" error. I tried using my Dell OEM key and it will not accept it.
I ran a MGA Diagnostic Report: HELP!

It seems from your report and notes that you used Retail media to reinstall.
The Key in the report is the Default Key for Windows 7 Home Premium (which probably means that you didn't enter the proper Key during the reinstall) - you need to change the Key to the one on the COA sticker on your machine (probably in the battery compartment) and then activate that (you will probably need to ativate by phone).

Your MGA Report indicates you installed a retail version of Windows 7 Home Premium. You'll need to enter a genuine "Full Retail" Windows 7 Home premium product key in order t activate it. Question: The Dell OEM product key you have: is it for Windows Vista or is it for Windows 7?
