Outlook Online Client - Connection Issue - For IFD - "cached meta data information could be broken ... HTTP status 401: Unauthorized" RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

    I have an Issue with the Outlook Online Client on a few clients. The Client has Windows XP SP3 with Outlook 2003 SP3 installed.
    The installation and configuration has worked fine. We are using the web form based authentification via the CRM Internet Facing Deployment.
    So we have configurate the outlook client  by using the "Internet Service Provider" Option and not using the "My Company" Option.

    The CfO Addin works correct, but after a while we addin is deactivated. Via Diagnose we get the following error:

    <Type>Microsoft.Crm.Outlook.Diagnostics.MetadataLoadDiagnosticCheck</Type>

      <Title>Checking meta data.</Title>
      <Status>Failed</Status>
      <Details>Microsoft.Crm.Outlook.Diagnostics.DiagnosticCheckException: cached meta data information could be broken so that it's deleted. Reboot Outlook. ---> System.Net.WebException: HTTP status 401: Unauthorized. Place: System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapHttpClientProtocol.ReadResponse(SoapClientMessage message, WebResponse response, Stream responseStream, Boolean asyncCall) Place: System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapHttpClientProtocol.Invoke(String methodName, Object[] parameters) Place: Microsoft.Crm.Metadata.MetadataWebService.GetMetadataForRichClient() Place: Microsoft.Crm.Metadata.DynamicMetadataCacheFactory.LoadMetadataFromWebServiceForRichClient(Guid organizationId) Place: Microsoft.Crm.Metadata.DynamicMetadataCacheFactory.LoadCacheForRichClient(DynamicMetadataCacheLoader loader, LoadMasks masks, IOrganizationContext context) Place: Microsoft.Crm.Metadata.DynamicMetadataCacheFactory.LoadMetadataCache(LoadMethod method, CacheType type, IOrganizationContext context) Place: Microsoft.Crm.Metadata.MetadataCache.LoadCa

      </DiagnosticCheck>

    Via IE we could connect to the crm with no problems. Via Diagnose we could repair this, but after a while the same error occurs.
    For me, it seems that the cache in which the IFD login and password are saved get corrupt. Does anybody know more details about that cache and were it is located?
    Or any hints to analyse this problem?
    thanks & regards
    Matthias

  • Run a trace on the Client Machine in Diagnostics -> Support Mode -> Trace
