  • Question

  • A few days ago started getting validation warnings when I open an office product such as word.  I believe we purchased authentic MS software from our college bookstore.  I have the disks in my hand, they look authentic and have product key code on them.  Plz help as msg is very annoying.

  • Hello Bunyan,

When a long-activated installation of Office XP or Office 2003 suddenly cannot make up its mind whether it is activated or not, chances are that the Office license file has been damaged or corrupted.

Please troubleshoot by working your way thru the Methods in this MS KB article:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/903275
Most people tell us that running the MS FixIt in Method 2 takes care of the problem.
