Your MGA report indicates you have a Compaq computer with a Compaq preinstalled version of Windows Vista.  HP/Compaq is a major OEM supplier and is not eligible for the Bonus Pack Offer.  Please review the following:

How can I tell if the copy of Microsoft Windows that was installed on my computer is eligible for the BONUS PACK offer?: http://www.localpcbuilder.com/eligible/

  • Additional info (I suspect what the problem is but I notice this for my purchase from FRYS):

For a license to be eligible it must have one of the part numbers on this page OR be purchased through one of the PC builders listed on this page.

-- OR -- Purchase from one these PC Builders

  • I politely disagree. When I ask for a PC-Builder near me, the closest entry is Fry's Electronics. Although they are listed as a PC-Builder and clearly are participating in this program, I don't think they are selling self-built branded computers there. Although they carry a tremendous inventory of components, all the systems I see are for sale are OEM reseller computers. Nowhere does this offer say that some computers bought from Fry's wouldn't qualify. Also I wonder what systems sold there at all avoid a major OEM name.

So first it says that it either needs to be certain component numbers -OR- bought from one of these system builders. Fry's is the closest system builder to my house. I don't see where it specifies what computer I may buy there. Then it offers me a coupon to take to Fry's, only I need the codes from generated from this advantage program that I can't get to work.

    It tells me that:

There are three ways to contact Frys Electronics:

     Visit their website: www.outpost.com

     Call them: (310) 364-3797

Visit their store: 3600 Sepulveda Boulevard Manhattan Beach, Ca Remember to mention the Buy Local BONUS PACK campaign site!

Remember to mention the Buy Local BONUS PACK promotion! Remember to bring the Buy Local BONUS PACK coupon with you!

Purchase a new Windows Vista®-based PC or Server with an eligible Windows Vista® operating system, 2007 Microsoft® Office system or a Windows® Small Business Server 2003 system and receive a BONUS PACK of hardware accessories.
    1. Visit PC Builder.
    2. Purchase one of the qualifying products listed above.
    3. Visit http://localpcbuilder.com/redeem to redeem your BONUS PACK.
PC Builders: the Buy Local BONUS PACK promotion is a free program for any PC Builder selling PCs pre-installed with genuine Microsoft software. For more information please visit http://localpcbuilder.com/partners.
After mail-in rebate, S&H/Taxes apply. Limited time offer. While quantities last. Additional restrictions apply. For full offer details visit localpcbuilder.com. For qualifying part numbers and PC builders, visit localpcbuilder.com/eligible. Individual suppliers are solely responsible for offers and order/rebate fulfillment.

So I am trying to follow the incentive that drove me to that store

    Regards,

    Ross

  • Dear tinysquare,

Carey is correct that your system appears to our eligibility check as a system purchased through a major OEM, but I should be able to help you resolve this. However, to do so would be cumbersome over the Forum. Please go to https://support.microsoft.com/oas/default.aspx?c1=509&gprid=9860 and create a Support Incident. Afterward, post the Incident Number here in this thread. I will then contact you directly.

    Thank you,

    Jenifer

  • I'm sorry Jennifer, I'm not familiar with Support Tickets and perhaps left off the correct ID number. This number is in emails on the issue that I have received:

  • It has been 10 days since I opened this thread. The problem ticket that I opened is being handed off yet again

Edit. I misread terms and briefly thought today was the last day to register purchases. July 31st is. I still have a month. ok. Any progress on your end Jenifer?

    Code Snippet

Purchases must be registered by July 31, 2008 and subsidy dollars expire 90 days after issue date. Subsidy dollar amounts depend on many factors. For this information and minimum/maximum purchase requirements and other restrictions see full http://www.microsoftincentives.com/bigeasy/terms.aspx" target=_blank>Big Easy Offer terms & conditions.

  •

I've read this thread and I fall into the same category. I bought an HP Cpmpaq from Frys.

I complement tinysquare on his/her perserverance. Too much for me.

    I consider this another ripoff.
