Server with Update Rollup 4 to Server wtih no Update Rollups RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

A general question that clicked me was, what if we export customizations from a sever with Update Rollup 4 installed to a server with no Update Rollups installed?
Am I looking out for a catastrophic issue or there are work arounds to it?

    Best Regards,

  • Yes, there are incompatibilities with importing customization between different crm server update rollup.  Please check the details on the update rollup for details.

To minimize any issues, keep source and target crm server at the same rollup for customization.

  • You can export customizations from a server that has Update Rollup 2, Update Rollup 3, or Update Rollup 4 for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 installed. Then, you can import those customizations to a server that has Update Rollup 5 for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 installed. You can also export customizations from a server that has Update Rollup 5 for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 installed and then import those customizations to a server that has Update Rollup 2, Update Rollup 3, or Update Rollup 4 for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 installed.

If you export customizations from a server that is running Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0, do not import the customizations to the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 server in the following scenarios:

    • The server from which you are exporting the customizations has no updates installed, or it has Update Rollup 1 for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 installed. However, the server to which you are importing the customizations has Update Rollup 5 for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 installed.
    • The server from which you are exporting the customizations has Update Rollup 5 for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 installed. However, the server to which you are importing the customizations has no updates installed or has Update Rollup 1 for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 installed.
