Upgrading vista home premium 64 bit to windows 7 Beta 64 bit RRS feed

  • Question

  • I bought a brand new gateway dx4200-09 with a four core processor and 6 gigs of ram as well as an ati HD 3200 graphics connected via HDMI to a 22" HD LCD monitor. After the initial upgrade to windows 7 beta I noticed my DVD drive didnt show up in my computer and I could not use it although the door would open and close. After about a week of testing Windows 7 I started getting the blue screen of death and something referencing to a memory dump and I had to forcefully shut my pc down by holding the button. I went back to best buy to purchase two recovery dvds for my system and restored the vista premium back to factory. I then shrunk my hard drive which was at 640 Gigabytes to partition space for a windows 7 beta full installation. I am happy to announce that my dvd is now recognized and sofar no blue screen crashes. I have owned windows since 3.1 back in the day and I am very pleased with the new OS so far. Has anyone else had these issues during an upgrade from vista 64 home premium to windows 7 64 beta?            elginplaneta@yahoo.com
