Can't sync onto storage card RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is this feature not supported?

    Are poor saps like me, with only ~50 mbs of onboard memory, going to have give us my 2 gig storage card when it comes to mesh?

  •  Kensm,

    After further investigation I have found that Live Mesh will only sync a shared folder contained on the first partition preceding the local disk. The Use Case that caused the problem on my device was under the senario of the following three partitions, mounted in this order
    • Local Disk
    • Extend Rom
    • Storage Card
    I was able to resolve this issue by setting the following registry keys:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ System \ StorageManager \ AutoLoad \ TRUEFFS_DOC1
    Bootphase=1

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ System \ StorageManager \ Profiles \ TRUEFFS_DOC1
    MountHidden=1

    This action un-mounted the Extended ROM Partition, thus allowing Live Mesh to mount correctly.

  • Hey Todd,

    It should be working, I've sent a report over to the Mobile team to see what is going on or what could be causing this.  If you could let me know what Phone you have and what version of Windows Mobile you have to give them a start point that'd rock.

    Thanks!

  • I also got this issue. My phone is a HTC Touch Diamond running WM 6.1

  • I tried again now, without making any changes, and it worked.

  • PPC 6700 running WM 6.

    Interesting Settings:
        Virtual Drives (in a sense)
          (1) Local Storage
          (2) Extended ROM (unlocked)
          (3) Storage Card (SONY)

    The use case is as follows:
    1. Verify successful sign on to mesh account
    2. Map existing Storage Card folder as sync folder
    3. Activate sync with Live Desktop
    4. Verify Live Desktop receives storage schema update, folder shows up correctly
    5. Navigate into Folder through Mobile Live Mesh View

    The last navigation action within the Mobile Live Mesh View directs me, through file explorer, into the Extended_Rom virtual storage device at root [My Device]/[Extended_ROM]/[Live Folders]/[Original Folder Name from Storage Card].

    It is my guess that the storage mapping is defaulting to the first additional virtual drive (the onboard storage being the first) and creating both the [Live Folders] root and the [Original Folder Name from Storage Card].

  • A bit more about the problem...

    It appears that I ran ExtRom Unlock on my ppc 6700 long ago. The Extended ROM is now a writable partition that is being mounted as a physical disk (just like the storage card)
