Missing several hours of activites RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Brent / Sean,

Do you plan to restore the missing activities (about 18 hours)?

    Thanks in advance.

  • I've logged a bug, we are looking into this as a high priority issue. Thanks for reporting it. At first glance it could be because your answer was confirmed after someone else already answered it, which would be something we would certainly fix both from the ux and ensure our historical reprocessing took into account. So don't worry, we haven't lost the data and we will fix this as soon as we can, still investigating though.

  • Service stopped last night, restarted it, should be working now. We have bugs on this to catch this sooner and ensure the service doesn't ever stop but that is a work in progress, Thanks for reporting the problem and let us know if it seems like things aren't working.
Also, last week's activity lag (7/19-7/20....18 hrs or so), should now be shoved through production.

  • I completely agree with Naomi’s comment here.  System started working again but lost almost 18-19 hours of work!   I know it is a free service but you have to understand that we are spending a lot of time on these forums to answer others questions!.

  • I guess we will be soon sounding as dni user from the other thread :)

But yes, I had ~16 answers in these hours and I guess some helpful points, so I do appreciate them restored.

  • Working on it. We found the problem, but the data is being looked into for reprocessing. It may take another day.

  • Ok, as long as they will be restored (and I can also look at the missed activities) I'm OK with waiting a bit.

  • One other problem with my activities. I used to get an Activity when my post was proposed as an answer. I don't see it in my recent activities

  • No super easy way to do that if activities have scrolled off the activity feed. Our engineering team (dev and test) verified that no activities were lost and successfully replayed though.

  • I can not be certain. During the lost activity I had ~16 answers (not sure how many helpful votes). I also had at least one answer missing even after activities resumed.

Yesterday I think my count increased roughly on 100 points. It doesn't look like everything was accounted for.

  • The one answer is a bug logged that we are looking into, it had nothing to do with the blackout and replay. What date times are you using for 'yesterday', I'm not sure exactly when they ran the replay but I can find out.

  • I am on Central Time, US. So, yesterday around 7pm I had ~81.400

In the morning today I had =81.510, but there were many answers during the night, so that explained the 110 increase. So, it looks like my lost activity didn't add anything.

  • Here are the activities we reprocessed for you from about 4PM to 9PM on 7/25. If you think some are missing, let me know and we'll take a deeper look.

  • I have no way to check if that was all the activity during that period or if the points for them were added. I, of course, will be also interested to review them.

If you can contact me by e-mail directly, it will be great!
