Genuine Windows Validation Issue RRS feed

  • Question

  •  I am getting an "Unable to complete genuine windows validation" message with an error code of I am 0x80080205.

I have a Windows XP Home Edition upgrade that seems to match the Windows product ID on the diagnostic report.  Since I exceed the 25 maximum reinstallations, I have had to call in the last few times for activation.

Any ideas for what I might be able to do to resolve this issue short of a reinstallation?

  • bahb,

Thank you for visiting the Windows Geniune Advantage (WGA) program forum. I am showing that you have a good key. Please call telephone activation for assistance. If they are unable to help you, I believe it would be a good idea to reinstall. Be aware that you will lose all your data if you do not back it up. What I am curious about, is why you would need to activate one Operating System more than 25 times.

You may reference the following site for various Telephone Activation Centers:

Thank you for visiting the WGA program forum.

  • Run the key update tool from MS ( a simple Live or Google search will give you the link) and re-enter your PK. activate again by phone, if it requires it.
